There has been a lot of comments following the action of the army detaining female soldier identified as Sofiat for accepting a marriage proposal from a male corper at the kwara state orientation camp, Siggy reports.

Nigerians have then dug up photos of male soldiers who proposed while in uniform and didn’t face any consequences from the Nigerian Army.

Among the reasons the army gave for her detention was that she indulged in romance while in uniform.

Nigerians were angered by this and have now started sharing photos of male soldiers who indulged in romance while in uniform and were not penalized as the female soldier is being penalized.

They are obviously guys and won't be penalized. The military just like to marginalize the female folks.

What of the female police that was dismissed three months into recruitment for getting pregnant for a superior officer in Ekiti abi Ondo. They were all police, the girl was dismissed and the guy that got her pregnant was left in service.

Every job has its own ethics, and the army is not an exception. I think in this case, the female soldier is being punished for having an indiscreet amorous relationship with the corps member, and clearly being distracted from her primary assignment in the camp as an instructor.

I do not think it's marginalization of the female. Simply put, every organization has its rules, which, for the army includes that a female soldier must not get married nor have babies within the first three years of service. I believe she knew the rules and she wasn't coerced into joining.

Yes, the punishment is harsh, from our emotional point of view. But the female soldier's circumstance does not run parrelel to the other proposals the op has highlighted.

una stupid oh, always sentimental every time, she was assigned to train corpers at the camp, and she went out of the line of duty,if you can live by the rules of the army, you better do something else, military is a different world, the live on commands and obedience, all this picture you're displaying is it in the nysc camp, or place of duty, any person supporting what that lady did is a fool who has refused to be wise, look into matters deep before commenting, once again the military is not for the soft mind.

The guys proposed to their girlfriends who were not subjects under them and also not in line of duty. If a male soldier propose a female corper he would get same treatment

The person pushing for that female soldier to be detained has a motive we are not aware of...

The examples you are trying to sell and what happened at the camp are totally different scenarios. But we love to react to issues without recourse to thinking. The army gave reasons why they have to suspend her but y'all don't just care since you have an informed opinion.

Am sure nothing will happen if assuming it was a male soldier that propose to a female coper. There is no justification to that harsh judgement. The poor lady just needed someone to call my love, which is not a bad thing in civilized countries. I watch a video were two families pay a surprise visit to their fathers at the point of duty in america and nothing happened. Assuming it was people that always run away when they sees Boko Haram, they will start taking.

But, was any of those proposed to, a trainee of the proposer?

the military rule said one must have served three years before being eligible for marriage.

These people were not their trainees nah... these are totally different scenerios. The lady soldier currently serving punishment for having an amorous relationship with someone she was meant to train.
Chai, most Nigerians are too emotional. Army has its rules, and every of its personnel should abide by those rules.

US Army recruits people with Tattoo, average height people, people with manageable eye problem on glasses, fleshy chubby people that can complete 30 pushups

In Nigeria you must be tall, without scar , marks or tattoo, single, without glasses, skinny, and can run cross country

American soldiers can not be deployed on American soil unless Marshall law is declared.
If an American soldier is on American soil then they are not on active duty

one is in mall where the soldier is obviously off duty.
the other is in NYSC Camp where the soldier is on active duty.

The only time they are not on active duty is when they lower that flag at 6pm. Was she proposed to after 6pm??
