An Old Bailey security guard was caught stealing from some of Britain's top barristers in a police sting.

An undercover operation was launched after lawyers complained that mobile phones, cash and even wigs were going missing from the robing room at the court.

City of London detectives rigged up cameras and left £100 of photocopied dummy banknotes in a wallet as bait. They watched as Ifamuyiwa Callisto entered the room, which is reserved for barristers changing into gowns.

He was seen rifling through lockers and suit jackets - eventually finding the wallet and taking the fake cash.

When arrested Callisto confessed and said: "It was easy pickings."

The 52-year-old Nigerian was jailed for six months after pleading guilty to three counts of theft.

Police who raided his home found £1,900 worth of fountain pens belonging to Michael Wolkind QC, who represented farmer Tony Martin in an appeal against his murder conviction.

The pens were reported missing last September, while Mr Wolkind was successfully defending Richard Harrison-Allen on a charge of murdering 17-year-old footballer Etem Celebi.

Tom Cockroft, defending, said father-of-three Callisto had turned to crime because of financial troubles.

Since his arrest the former nurse had been thrown out of home by his wife and sacked from his job at the court.

District Judge Daphne Wickham jailed Callisto, of Tower Hamlets, for three months on each of two counts of theft, to run consecutively, with a further three-month term to run concurrently.

Wigs and pen? hmmm, i know what he is suffering from! Even the queen has it - it's a royal disease -

Are you sure he is even a Nigerian? Funny how London newspapers report news crimes committed by Nigerians and when it comes to news on positive achievements by Nigerians especially in London, all you will read is ", UK citizen born in Nigeria but left at an ealr age to the UK, "

What would a thief want with lawyer's wigs?

Another Nigerian adding to our already black image in the West.
