quite impressive outing for the Enugu based team as final score reads 5 - 0, uche nwofor was quite impressive,superb creativity in front,soft touches,sharp thinking as he hits back of net three times,Nice weather and the display of the ball was super,though the liberian based team was no where near a match, they really showed character despite defeat,, kabiru and egwim scored for Rangers aswell,.the return leg is in two weeks,hope we take the win in liberia,

Holy-Holy, Holy,Holy-Holy, Enugu Rangers another champions. Those were the days. A good result for them. This same Uche Nwofor guy that demolished 3SC in Ibadan. No wonder he was highest goal scorer at AYC. Destination Barcelona and Super Eagles for him.

lol. There's a WAFU club competition. I think it's a new tourney, I found about it last year. Rangers won the last edition, they defeated a Togolese team in the final.
Good start for them and great stuff from Uche Nwafor.

Unless it was discontinued at some point, WAFU cup has been around for a long time. I remember the defunct New Nigerian Bank FC of Benin winning it a few times in the 80s. NNB FC produced such great players as Henry Nwosu, Stephen Keshi, Bright Omokaro, Humphrey Edobor and the goal keeper - Wilfred Agbonavbare.

We need to encourage our local clubs. they also need to improve there publicity and merchandise like caps, jerseys and other club items. I was passing a sports shop one day here in kano and i saw an advert for Pillars home jersey. I was surprised because id id not know Nigerian clubs have their jerseys available in the market. They need to market more and make money from sports merchandise rather than depending solely on their owners which are mostly state governments.
