President Buhari Begs ASUU To Shelve Strike Plans by Sigggy: 6:35pm On Feb 07, 2022 |
Update from SIGGY .ng President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other stakeholders in the country to appeal to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend its plan to commence an industrial action following the inability of the government to meet the union's demands, Siggy reports. The president assured ASUU that the Federal Government would honour promises made to them to prevent disruptions of academic programmes caused by strikes by improving the funding of educational institutions. The President made the pledge when he received members of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) led by the Co-Chairs, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Samson Ayokunle. He thanked NIREC for intervening in the year-long strike by ASUU by holding consultations with the parties involved. Source: SIGGY

As a Nigerian, being a University graduate at a young age is a blessing and what every young kids should hope for. I can't imagine myself going through some mental and psychological stess because of everyday strike. Education in Nigeria is an eyesore, especially in government-established schools (Basic school to University). |
