One word NATO

I smiled when I read alot of uninformed comemnts here about the Russian and China alliance and so on . Now let.me.eduxate some of us here why Putin is angry with UKRAINE joining NATO. First who is NATO?

The Power of NATO

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) is known throughout the globe as the world's strongest and most powerful Alliance; but where does NATO's power come from? Does the organisation have its own military forces or NATO troops? Simply put, no and yes. The Alliance counts on the military might of its 30 Allied and partner nations to support missions and operations around the world.
NATO doesn't have its own armed forces, but it has a permanent, integrated military command structure, comprised of both military and civilian personnel, from all member states. These staffs work collectively to achieve the same objectives.

NATO military

The Alliance benefits from being able to count on the military capabilities and expertise of each member country. Every nation brings something to the table including personnel,

Since 1949, NATO has increased its collective military power. Today it has the capability to count on nearly 3.5-million personnel, troops and civilian combined. Each member state agrees to contribute with different strategic weight and influence.

Allied Command Operations (ACO) led by Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), is responsible for executing all NATO operations and missions, Deputy SACEUR coordinates troop contributions. When an operation or mission ends, multinational forces return to their respective countries.

When the North Atlantic Council (NAC) decides to carry out an operation, mission or exercise, NATO's military authorities propose a draft concept of operations (called CONOPS) that presents the minimum request of forces they are demanding in terms of equipment, work force and resources. This process is called force generation.

The force generation process follows a standard procedure; this task involves Allied Command Operations, Force Generation Branch and National Military Representatives (NMRs). According to this procedure every Ally allocates the personnel and equipment necessary to carry out NAC approved operations and missions. National availability of founding is the final deciding factor on whether a nation will contribute or not.

In 2021, the United States had the largest number of military personnel out of all North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries, with 1.35 million troops. The country with the second largest number of military personnel was Turkey, with just over 445,000 personnel.

What is Nato’s capability?
The core principle of Nato’s international military alliance is its system of collective defence, meaning if any member state is attacked by a third party, then every member state must step in to defend it.

Fortunately for countries such as Montenegro, which spends just £67m a year on defence, there are some military big hitters in the alliance.

The US spends more on defence than double the rest of Nato combined, with 2021 spending estimated at $705bn (£516bn), according to the Department of Defense.

As well as being the biggest defence spender in the world, the US has a powerful arsenal and a huge amount of manpower – 1.3 million active troops, with another 865,000 in reserve, said The New York Times in 2017. The UK is the second biggest overall spender in Nato, putting nearly £50bn into defence annually compared to Germany’s £45bn, France’s £42bn and Italy’s £20bn.

What is Russia’s capability?
Russia’s military capability is not to be sniffed at, easily ranking among the world’s most powerful.

According to the Washington-based Heritage Foundation, its inventory includes “336 intercontinental ballistic missiles, 2,840 battle tanks, 5,220 armored infantry fighting vehicles, over 6,100 armored personnel carriers and more than 4,684 pieces of artillery”.

But it is lacking in some areas of modern military technology, including drone capability, electronic components, and radar and satellite reconnaissance, Russian journalist and military analyst Pavel Felgenhauer told Deutsche Welle.

“That’s what the Russian military is talking about: yes, we have weapons, including long-range weapons, but our reconnaissance capabilities are weaker than our attack capabilities,” Felgenhauer said. “So we have-long range, sometimes precision guided weapons, but we don’t always know where the target is.”

The China perspective

Yes China is Russia's ally but where the invasion of Ukraine to lead to a war with NATO China would back out. The Chinese one lack modern conflict or in lay man's terms modern war experience which the Uzsa, Britian France and Russia have ... These countries have been.involved in several wars around the globe in recent years .. the best China would do is to declare neutrality ...

Can the combined China and Russian take on NATO .. for a week or so they may appear to be standing their goeumd but wars quickly take their toll and the 2 countries would buckle In No time...

NATOs military might is just too strong hence why Putin doesn't want Ukraine joining them

It's just like a bully (Russia) who always bullies all the smaller kids on his block . He then hears that a kid whom he once took his phone by force (annexation of Crimea) wants to go and join black aex confraternity (NATO) this bully then runs to tell the boys parents that their son wants to join cult EU, but the parents can't do anything. The bully Futher panicking and realizing that if this kid joins (NATO) he won't be able to bully him and he may one day come back to collect his phone (annexed Crimea) so the bully starts to threaten fire and brimstone huffing and puffing hope his threats will scare the boy away from joining the cult ..

Those are kids who play video games and watch movies too much they just don't understand.

So I generally ignore them

Good analysis..but for your information. Ukraine is not part of NATO yet..and even the U.S president has made it clear that if Russia invades Ukraine..no troops will be sent to Ukraine.not even to go and rescue Americans in Ukraine

True. "Partner" is the word, but it would give them some sort of cover from the R.bully until they are finally absorbed, which of course may take a very long time.
