Public information is information that alerts citizens to government or government-related activities that may motivate a citizen to take action. Traditional and efficient newspapers - intended for general distribution, published public notice ads regularly at short intervals and containing current news of general interest - are a public announcement, as they stimulate curiosity and are distributed to the interested public.

Public statements play an important role in both substantive and procedural proceedings, as they provide a window into government action and also inform citizens about the action to be taken so that they can exercise their constitutional right to be heard. Most importantly, the statement not only now directly informs the person or entity affected, but also the general public's interest in knowing how public authority is being exercised.

However, in order to successfully achieve the goals of the law, there are several requirements for newspapers wishing to issue public announcements. For example, many countries require the newspaper to be published for a certain period of time before notices can be sent. In addition, many countries require a percentage of news in the newspaper. Finally, these requirements are introduced to ensure that the newspaper is indeed a reliable source of community information and that the notice will be read.
