Manchester United face Barcelona in the final of the Champions League on Saturday and the common consensus is that Sir Alex Feguson’s side are going to struggle to contain the La Liga champions, who so comprehensively beat them in Rome in 2009.

It is certainly true that the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi match up well against Michael Carrick, Park Ji-Sung and Ryan Giggs and it is difficult to come up with a good argument for not backing Barcelona to win, at odds of evens with Paddy Power although a better route to profit may be to use the Irish firm’s money back promotion against them.

Paddy is offering to refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast bets if Barcelona beat Manchester United in 90-minutes and for fans of the Catalans that is unmissable. If you think that Pep Guardiola’s side will win then you are effectively getting multiple risk free bets on the Champions League, with several of the markets offering some attractive odds.

Lionel Messi is, for example, available to back at 4/1 to open the scoring, with strike partner David Villa an incredible 7/1. Granted, the Spanish international hasn’t scored in over two months but he is a hugely talented goalscorer and his barren run will not last. Villa’s international team mate Pedro makes up the Barca front three and is an 8/1 shot to score the first goal at Wembley.

The only other likely scorer in blue and red is Andres Iniesta (12/1) as Xavi and Sergio Busquets sit deep for Barcelona and none of the defenders are particularly prolific. The aerial threat of Gerard Pique (33/1) and Carlos Puyol (50/1) is also likely to be completely negated by the strength of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

It makes sense, therefore, if you are a Barcelona backer, to cover each of the front four in the first goalscorer market, all at nice prices and that way you will get some excellent returns when one of the quartet opens the scoring, safe in the knowledge that any losses will be returned when the Spanish side once again beat Manchester United inside 90-minutes a Champions League final
