Treading the unknown waters can be daunting. Not everyone likes to try new things. An uncharted terrain can carry its own sets of risks, which is why for some people, routine is safe. But isn’t that boring as well?

Trying new things: why not?

Whether it be ordering a new thing on the menu, or applying for a new job, submitting your college application, starting off your own business, apprehension can accompany all such situations, and that is fine.

It’s when you give into your fear of the new and the unknown that you then lose out on opportunities. As per the famous adage, you miss the 100% of the shots that you don’t take. In the pursuit of perfection and the run from rejection, we deprive ourselves of new experiences and a better life.

You might even recognize yourself that it is an irrational fear that you need to overcome, but the inertia might not let you make a movement. In some cases, it stems from genuine mental health problems that you can then figure out with the help from Psychologist in Lahore.

Reflect why you are being so afraid

It is important to know what exactly you are fearing. Are you afraid of not making it, or are you scared of embarrassing yourself? Understanding where your fear stems from can help you deal with it better.

You can then understand if it’s a rational reason. If you are willing to lose your dreams and aspirations over, it better be something very solid, and even then, not worth your hope.

It can often be easier to give into your fear when you are not sure when and how to start. Here is where you need to set effective goals. Break down the task that you have set out for yourself, and then set your goals accordingly.

When your brain knows what it needs precisely to go after, instead of some abstract idea, it can then work better in getting you to your goal.

Remember, you learn when you fail

We fear failure, but have you realized that you learn when you fail? It is good to fail at 15% of the task, because that is where your optimal learning occurs. Therefore, rather than negatively perceiving failure, take it as a learning opportunity.

Celebrate the wins

You do not have to do the task perfectly always. Sometimes, little progress is good too. And to motivate yourself, be sure to celebrate it.

Stop worrying so much
