Drug abuse among Nigerian youth has been a scourge to the overall sustainable development of the nation. Substance abuse is a serious issue among our youths in the nation, in order to control this rate amidst the youths, Kayode Adamolekun Foundation has successfully organized a Free Seminar on Say No to Drugs , Say Yes to your future , A live free seminar which had the presence of Secondary Schools, Members of National Youths Service Corps, Officials from National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA) , Top nollywood and entertainment industry personnels , Medical practitioners among many others.


Drug abuse addictions and trafficking has a universal propaganda that transverse across socioeconomic, cultural, religious, and ethnic boundaries, Despite the efforts of the Nigerian tiers of Government and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to stem to its tide in Nigeria, there has been a consistent spate in the number of cases especially among adolescents.

 

The Founder of Kayode Adamolekun Foundation , Engr. Kayode Adamolekun in his words says drug use and abuse is one of  the primary reason why many youths have been incarcerated as well as being a source of crime and health problem in our society today. This has made our foundation to take the bold step today to be an advocacy group on tackling and saving the life's of our youths from drug abuse .


Kelechi Anyalechi , The Founder of REVAMP Africa, a multi-gifted personality and a social entrepreneur passionate about empowering young people was the first speaker at the live free seminar, he spoke on few motivationally points on youths by identifying who they walk with, associate with, their exposure, the ability to say yes or no to choose the right thing, their long time effect either negative or positive should be a strong pillar of determination of making it rightly in life and most importantly, Kelechi added the power of resolve is highly important for them to be able to speak out , share their emotion with the right foundation such as KAF foundation.


Dedoyin Ajayi , a licensed psychotherapist and certified neuro-linguistic,  specialist in suicide ideations, depression, childhood trauma, existential crises and personality disorder , moved the event to another realm of scrutiny as she spoke on Substances Abuse : The inside gist , where she practically showed the audience the pictorial aspect of how a drug addicted person looks like and the life danger .


Dedoyin spoke about the commonly abused drugs such as Alcohol, Cocaine, Opiods ( Tramadol, Codeine), Benzodiazepines , Cannabis ( Marijuana ; weed,kush) etc. advising the youths to abstain from abusing drugs whereby she said " Your life doesn't have to pause because of drug or substance abuse, use every ounce of your strength to get help " by associating with foundations such as KAF foundation which helps victims of drug abuse in treating them through chemical dependence treatment programs, detoxification and behavioral therapy.

True courage is the ability to admit the need for assistance , she added.


The free seminar was impactful as youths were empowered and also assigned institutional ambassadorship position to some students represent KAF FOUNDATION and propagate the campaign of Say No to Drugs Say Yes To Your Future amidst their institution to safe the younger generation, this was officially actualized at the event by the philanthropy leader and Founder of KAF foundation, Engr. Kayode Adamolekun, who also charged them to studiously show their positive effect of advocacy on the students.
