It is a no brainer to even think of that as a good idea to curb the menace of unprecedented insecurity in the country, eg. kidnapping, unprovoked attacks and killings, banditry and terrorism that's bedeviled the country for over a decade.

Ado Doguwa a member of the house of representatives has this as a plan to stop insecurity. But I think the multiplier effects of doing so will be so enormous and overwhelming.

That action can automatically throw the country into a sudden civil war, and guess who the targets will be.... THE LEADERS THEMSELVES and that's because we are where we are because leaders in Nigeria have failed to do the right thing.

What do you think will happen if an angry and hungry man is being allowed to have access to guns? Well ur guess is as good as mine.

It will mean more jobs for witch doctors, who will get more customers to do "Odeshi" otherwise known as traditional bullet-proof.

People will shoot to kill at the slightest and most ridiculous provocation.

There will be aggrieved persons trying to purge, themselves of pain through retaliation, just to settle old scores.

A good percentage of people in the country has fallen into an unimaginable pit of depression and a lot of them are already suicidal.

Psychological disorder and bad mental health is also an issue... people are trying to manage mid-life crisis, and then u let such person handle a gun? grin hehehe

More organ harvesters. More kidnapping, more terrorism, more banditry. Excessive and untold lawlessness. Rights will be violated !!!

There will be more brutal domestic violence.

The police and military will quit their jobs.

The list is endless.... if everyone has access to weapons to defend themselves then it will be accurate to say that its is finished.

But on a second thought.... if people are allowed to defend themselves and only if they can afford to buy the weapons for themselves then it leaves the rich and middle class enough impetus to send the country to abyss.

1 fairly used AK47 is more than a million naira grin

My guess is not your guess so all I see is rubbish give everybody gun let's defend ourselve.

You will blast somebody's head when you have a gun and you think the person and the people around him Won't do anything?
When you want to attack someone with a sort of power you have to think twice yourself.

It may not be done in a public arena, most people are already suicidal and will gladly kill to be killed

Maybe you need to start by researching why self defence and gun ownership is in their constitution

In the olden time everyman had a defence weapon be it cutlass, bow and arrow or Dane guns to protect their family and clans from invaders and also for hunting to feed their families.

It is imperative that the modern society allow bearing of modern day weapon of defence by all so as to deter invaders and plunderers.
America understood this and most natives have access to firearm to protect their land and families. Nigeria being a huge ungoverned space with skeletal security outfit which in all is largely corrupt, inefficient, deficient In capacity and always up for highest bidder,it is detrimental as it is suicidal to entrust ones security to above described national security outfit.

With legalisation of firearms Violent crime will reduce to minimum as there will be almost instant retribution if there is any breach, so for self preservation purpose it will daunting and largely suicidal to be the aggressor.

When everybody is with gun, people's ideas and attitude will change drastically, that's what most of you fail to see.

It came about because of centuries past and the dangers they faced and was used to grant them rights under the second amendment as part of the bill of rights.

If you look at what necessitated gun use then you would even realise that today in America it is not necesarry and should be restricted or controlled.

It has no adverse effects so far if Nigerian are allowed to defend themselves with guns.

The fear of our politicians is that the society, especially the youths, can turn the guns again them with the rubbish them are doing with our resources.

That is their fear.

I agree with the op.

Nigerians are psychologically damaged to handle guns, the country would be far worse than it is currently.

What we need is good leaders and we can only achieve that by voting in the right people.

Pathetic.
Una no rate us at all.
I don't believe that BS written by op. If everyone has a weapon to defend his/herself sanity will return to our clime.
Nigerian are mentally strong.

It's funny how suddenly people know the risk but would defend killer herdsmen marauding communities.

Agreed tension will be high but with time things will balance out.

People will learn to respect others. If a fellow man knows that his opponent can match him, he learns respect.

Ask yourself why armed robbers avoid some areas?

You think the bandits don't want to live too?

Trust me, kidnapping would reduce especially if guns are readily available and cheap. kidnappers will need to be extremely skilled to catch people alive.

You can't be too sure to kidnap someone on the street and not expect a concerned sniper hit you..

Each community will be a mini barrack.

Personally, if the government claim Boko haram and bandits are too strong for them, allow Nigerians get guns. Once these bandits know that it won't be a walk in the park, they'd relocate.

If things normalize, ask people to submit their guns

My brother, you can only say this in a civilized world. Nigerian society has deviated from that status long ago. We can’t continue to live in fear of being kidnapped, killed, robbed or attacked and become helpless. Let everyone who can, carry arms. This is the only way terrorism can be abated in Nigeria. The law enforcement agencies cannot handle it at the level it has gone now. May be you live in Lagos, that’s why you are able to say this. If you live in Kaduna or any of the hotspots in the north, you definitely will not be against Nigerians arming themselves.

Only a person with low IQ would call for Nigeria's groups to get arms to defend themselves and their groups. It's like a call for anarchy in Nigeria.

It's desire by the Fulani group to expand Islam in Nigeria and control the country's resources that led to this high level insecurity in Nigeria.
The buck stops at the master's table. If Nigerians elect a candidate who has no religious expansionism agenda as next president, insecurity will be crushed.

[quote author=MadeINchenzen2 post=111547669]guess who the targets will be.... THE LEADERS THEMSELVES] all you typed is rubbish, nonsense and ingredients!!! The leaders will learn to behave well and attend to the needs of the citizens with the speed of light, having reset their brains with the thought of "every citizen holds a gun". it is in operation in the united states yet their police & army have not resigned. it is way better to take the full responsibility of securing oneself than depending on the useless nigeria security forces, who aide terrorists in their terror attacks on defenceless citizens.

in summary, holding guns will make everybody in nigeria to think twice before steping on toes.
