Netflix has confirmed the release date for its latest EbonyLife studios collaboration ‘Blood Sisters’.

The script to screen four-part original series directed by Biyi Bandele (‘Half of A Yellow Sun’) and Kenneth Gyang (‘Oloture’) will launch globally on May 5, 2022.

Starring Ini Dima-Okojie and Nancy Isime as its leading ladies, the Temidayo Makanjuola created series follows two friends Sarah (Dima-Okojie) and Kemi (Isime). Sarah is engaged to her dream man, Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon).

However, their seemingly idyllic union has a dark side and despite Kemi’s vocal misgivings, Sarah is determined to press on with the wedding. What follows is a heart-stopping series of catastrophic events marked by murder, love, betrayal and the test of friendship.

Written by Craig Freimond and Zelipa Zulu, the anticipated series was shot in Lagos in September 2021 and is the latest collaboration to roll out following the previous year’s ‘Castle & Castle’ and ‘Chief Daddy’ sequel.

Speaking on the importance of telling the ‘Blood Sisters’ story, EbonyLife Studios boss Mo Abudu says: “Blood Sisters is a crime thriller, which is a new genre for us, so the prospect was challenging but very exciting! It was also a particularly unique and intense experience as we shot during the pandemic, but we remained committed to the vision we share with Netflix – to tell authentic and exciting African stories with superb production values.”

The thriller also stars industry pioneers Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw, Uche Jombo, Segun Arinze and Joke Silva as well as screen favorites Wale Ojo, Gabriel Afolayan, Kehinde Bankole, Daniel Etim Effiong, Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey, Maurice Sam, Ibrahim Suleiman, Toke Makinwa and Okey Uzoeshi.

It will be just talk and talk and fake accents and no effects.... Say drama...

No matter what, I will spend my streaming time with South African movies than watch Nigerian movies...
