The prophecy of Isaiah seems to be very popular among Nigerians, and even so for the wrong reasons. The famous prophecy has long been fulfilled in 587BC, and we are to discuss it. However, let's start with the historical background.

Where did the problem start?
Isreal and Judah sinned greatly against God. When God delivered Isreal from the Egyptians, they made a convenant to worship only Him else they will suffer wars, famine, curses and diseases.(Deut 11:24-26) Generations came after Generations and there arose new generations and Kings that were Idolatrous (worshipping anything they could carve up with their hands) and committing all kinds of sins.

God recorded their sins saying through Isaiah:
Isaiah 1:21-23
[21]How the faithful city has become an [idolatrous] harlot, she who was full of justice! Uprightness and right standing with God [once] lodged in her–but now murderers.
[22]Your silver has become dross, your wine is mixed with water.
[23]Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes and runs after compensation and rewards. They judge not for the fatherless nor defend them, neither does the cause of the widow come to them [for they delay or turn a deaf ear].

Judgement was declared upon the men of Isreal
Isaiah 3:25-26
[25]Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty men in battle.
[26]And [Jerusalem's] gates shall lament and mourn [as those who wail for the dead]; and she, being ruined and desolate, shall sit upon the ground.

How did the women get involved?
The Isrealite women those days were proud, flirtatious, and placed their trust on gold, expensive ornaments etc.
Isaiah 3:16
[16]Moreover, the Lord said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks and with undisciplined (flirtatious and alluring) eyes, tripping along with mincing and affected gait, and making a tinkling noise with [the anklets on] their feet

God's judgement was passed on the women
Isaiah 3:17,24
[17]Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the heads of the daughters of Zion [making them bald], and the Lord will cause them to be [taken as captives and to suffer the indignity of being] stripped naked.
[24]And it shall come to pass that instead of the sweet odor of spices there shall be the stench of rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; and searing [of captives by the scorching heat] instead of beauty.

And the worst of the punishment is:

In those days it was a shameful thing for a woman to be unmarried and worse childless. And, almost an abomination for a woman to be so "shameless" to propose to a man, that was why God cursed them saying,

Isaiah 4:1
[1]AND IN that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread and provide our own apparel; only let us be called by your name to take away our reproach [of being unmarried].

Was the prophecy fulfilled?
Yes, in 587BC. In the days of King Zedekiah of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah and laid Jerusalem desolate.(2 King 25) Most of the men were killed, the few skilled men were taken to Babylonia as captives, many of the captives were castrated e.g Daniel. Only few men who were the poorest of the poor were left in Jerusalem. It was the culture those days for men to provide for women, but the men were too poor to take care of even themselves. So, women offered to take of themselves because they were desperate to marry the few Isrealite men left, especially one of their clan.
