Only those who graduated and spent years anticipating a call could explain the frustration of waiting for the CLARION CALL. The euphoria of the moment could make you forget the most important part, which is preparing for the venture and tasks ahead of you as a prospective corp member. That’s why I have written this article to guide you as you make preparations for the NYSC camp.

Things that should make up your travel luggage
​​Academic Documents: You must ensure you have the original and photocopies of the following: O’level Result(s), JAMB Result, Statement of result from the institution of graduation, NYSC Call-up Letter, your Green card. Also, DO NOT FORGET to take copies of your Passport photograph. You could find photographers at the camp. But like every other emergency situation, their price may be too high.

NYSC Attire/Extra Attire: At the camp, you will be given your own NYSC crested White Vest and pairs of stockings. Your Khaki trouser, jacket, white canvas shoe, jungle booth, and NYSC customized cap. However, you could buy some of them before coming, especially plain white shirts, shorts, trousers, and white canvas, in case you need to change clothes at any time and your NYSC attire did not come in handy.

Corpers are allowed to wear any other color of outfit on Sundays and any other occasional day. So you could go with 2 or 3 different beautiful outfits so that you could flaunt them on such days.

Under Wears: Do not forget to get yourself some pieces of pants, singlets and boxers. You will be sharing a room with other corps members. I do not need to remind you of the need to show off clean and odorless underwear amongst your mates.

Drugs/Medications: If you suffer from any chronic illnesses, please do not forget to go with your routine drugs. Also, inform NYSC officials on arrival so that they could make provisions for you, and also help you with whatever assistance you may need during the camping period. Every NYSC camp has a clinic that handles emergency health situations. Do not hesitate to reach out to them if the need arises.
In addition, you will need some routine pills to keep fit after any severe exposure to such unfavorable conditions as the sun, mosquito bites, or any food that does not go well with your body system. You could also travel with a mosquito net, insecticides, pills for headaches, malaria pills, catarrh, and cough pills.

Toiletries: Take Your toothbrush and paste, towel, tissues, bathing soap and sponge, and also detergent and toilet soap to wash your dirty belongings during the period.

Cosmetics: If you are the type of person that cannot use just any type of body cream, make sure to get your regular brand of cream, both for your body and hair. Body spray and perfumes should also make your list if you have to.

Cutleries: You will be needing a food flask, especially one that retains temperature. You will need 2 or 3 plates, spoons, and forks for eating.

Money: Lastly and most importantly, PLEASE DO NOT forget to have some money in your account, or better still find a way to get some cash on arrival at the camp immediately. You may not be allowed to go outside the camp for any reason due to security concerns.
