There are many ways of saying I miss you in Igbo, here are a few: 1. A'humgi unyahu, kama ikadi n'obim - "I did not see you yesterday, but you are still in my mind (or heart)" 2. Ikadi n'obim - "You are still in my heart (or mind)" 3. Ahumgi - "I did not see you" |

'Agwa' is 'to miss somebody' or nostalgia, remember it. I miss you in Igbo is: Agwa gi nà màm. 1 Like |

If the person doesn't understand the above, say: Ije nke í jèrè na mam, Ije nke í jèrè màrám. Or simply: Òtù í jèrè na mam. |

odumchi: I thought 'Ahumgi' is more like 'I see you or I saw you'? I did not see you, should sound more like, 'Ahumrogi', my spelling might be way off, but it appear you are missing the negation, |
Re: I "missed You" In Igbo Language! by ezeagu(m): 1:25pm On Oct 16, 2011 |
Oletunow: The proper spelling for what the other poster was suggesting is 'àhụumgi' (note low tone on the 'a'), 'I see you' would be 'M na hụ gị', 'á hụm gi' is I saw you (note high tone on 'a'). 'A hụrọm gị' is not standardised Igbo and is Anambra/Enugu-like. |
Re: I "missed You" In Igbo Language! by odumchi: 9:22pm On Oct 16, 2011 |
Oletunow: Generally, I think the idea is when you extend a vowel in a verb it means the opposite. Here are some example: "Ogbara" means he kicked while "Ogbaa" means he didnt kick. "Okwara" means he cried while "Okwaa" means he didnt. Based on what I know, Ahuumgi is "I did not see you" while "Ahurumgi" is I saw you". 1 Like |

odumchi: I now recall when you guys made those exampls. My Igbo is of the Anambra dialect, but I understand the Imo Igbo very well, when spoken. |
Re: I "missed You" In Igbo Language! by odumchi: 5:03am On Oct 17, 2011 |
Oletunow: I somehow knew that you were from Anambra. Anambra/Enugu Igbo is well known for adding "go" to words. And I'm from Abia, but I guess you could say Abia and Imo dialects are very similar. |

Re: I "missed You" In Igbo Language! by presido1: 11:49am On Oct 20, 2011 |
odumchi:I think u are wrong here. Okwara akwa = means he/she cried. Okwaa akwa! also means cried. Okwaghi akwa= mean he/she did not cry. You can remove the akwa and it still means the same thing. |
Re: I "missed You" In Igbo Language! by odumchi: 12:18pm On Oct 20, 2011 |
presido1: Youre misunderstanding me. The full way of saying it is "Okwaghi" while the short way is "okwaa". Both meaning the same thing. However "Okwara" means he did cry, as far as I know Igbo. I've never known "okwaa" to mean the same as "Okwara" however it might be a matter of dialect. 1 Like |
