The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has revealed that the ongoing industrial action can end tomorrow.

According to the Union, the industrial action will end immediately once the federal government addresses their concerns.

This was disclosed by the ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday night.

Osodeke also revealed that the Union has reached an agreement with the federal government, but no signatures have been signed.

Osodeke said the insistence by ASUU
on using its own payment platform, the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), was a key demand the government must accept.

“As far as ASUU is concerned, the strike can end tomorrow,” Osedeke said.

“We have finished the negotiation. If the government calls us now to come and sign the agreement, we will be there tomorrow.

“Let the government tell us they have finished testing the UTAS and we have accepted it, then we will call off the strike.

“When will they sign the agreement? When will they accept UTAS? Those are the two questions we should ask the Nigerian government,” Osodeke added.

DAILY REPORT recalls that the ongoing strike is in its fifth month, after the lecturers shutdown schools in early 2022.

After months of testing this our stone cold president, they have now confirmed the man is a heartless, deaf and dumb man.

They should have should have asked around before embarking of this fruitless journey, like the rattle snake that bit Buhari, thinking sey na human being in dey bite, after one week of severe pain, the snake died.

Let us forget the mistake we made in bringing this curse upon ourselves, focus on not making the same mistake in bringing in a similar person as the next president.

Yes, of course, ASUU President is very correct here.
Sincerely speaking, the end to the strike now lies squarely on Buhari!
The final draft of the agreement is on his table for signing and implementation and all he needs to do is to minute on it, to the finance, to provide the necessary fund to execute the project. If President makes such request, finance will have no option other than to accede!
If the communication is just between the ministries then there will never be a solution, as no ministry is answerable to the other!
Education Ministry can never ever order Finance Ministry to release fund to pay ASUU, only the President can do so angry

...The truth is that, the ASUU strike would continue till eternity they would call it off today and go back to it tomorrow. if you've seen the agreement between ASUU and FG you would know that it's all about money money money for individuals apart from the normal salary. Yes they want Govt. to upgrade infrastructure which is just like 20% of the issue, it would be difficult for any Government to sustain such agreement across the board without failing which is why Govt. is reluctant to fulfilling part of the agreement because once you do that you are under obligation to fulfil everything. This agreement comes to be as a result of re-negotiation of a re-negotiation of another re-negotiation from the Military era. ASUU don't want a fresh talk everything must come from the last agreement or-else we go on strike (well that is how its, they go on strike and come back to collect the salary for the work they didn't do from the FG they are fighting. Can anyone try that in a private sector?) If Obasanjo Administration is Unfair, Yahadura is wicked and Jonathan Administration is clueless too (PDP doesn't value education) is it that Buhari and APC too are the same as previous FG and ASUU is the only saint and an Hero like they always claim (fighting for good education system) ASUU has tested NO WORK GET PAID and they knew it's sweeter than anything you can imagine. I can only blame Nigerians (Parent in particular) people would tell you to vote a good leader into office but wouldn't tell you to shun a bad follower, the people working at the ministry of Education have been there for more than 25 years and yet they are expecting 4-8 years politician to come and solve the problem. This is not Jonathan's or Buhari's problem its the problem of the Ministry of Education both at the Federal and State Level. Hope the GOOD NIGERIANS have a reason to smile for public education system in the nearest future.
