With the ongoing debate about ISLAMIC BANKING i can not help but wonder if we are truly ready for this, Not forgeting how violatile the religious segment of Nigeria is. Citing an example of a religious council saying they would 'DEFEND THE BANK WITH THE LAST DROP OF THERE BLOOD' if not allowed to start operations. Although one can not shy away from the fact that the bank has its own advantages its brings but the question remains unanswered 1. has the CBN looked beyond the advantages? 2. The present extremism in some parts of Nigeria? 3. How non religious affilated businesses would be financed by the bank based on what hapens in nigeria? 4. How many non muslims would employed based on what is obtainable in nigeria? |
