If the boss made the rules (no entry if your name isn't on the list) and expect 100% compliance, then the guy should be getting a raise for following the rules.

The bouncer lacks discretion. Some times you have to bypass protocol and policies to ensure order. If his bosses name isn't on the list, he ought to use his discretion.
I am a non-comformist, I don't actually believe in laws. Laws are obstacles meant to shield you from achieving certain heights. Without the doubt, laws/rules help to create order but it isn't meant for all applications
