The Fast That Counts by Prevail123: 9:08pm On Jul 07, 2022
LearnChrist Bible Study Meeting, Thursday 7th 2022||Pst Prevail Inegbenose

Topic: The Fast That Counts.
Texts: Isaiah 58:1-6; Zech 7:4-9;

Truly, anything that's worth doing, is worth doing well. It is not only important to do a thing that is good, it is also to do it aright.

As we at House of God Int'l - Rest Tabernacle are currently waiting on the Lord in our Covenant Fasting/Prayer program for the Seventh Month, LearnChrist deemed it necessary to take a look at fasting that counts.

God's word says,
"Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6.

We noted that beyond abstinence from food, activities, places or pleasures for a period of time, as well as praying during this time; we are also to eschew evil and wicked acts.

When we fast and pray, and yet hold people in our heart, lay burdens or yokes on people for whatsoever reason, the bible says such fast is unacceptable before God.

So, for our fasting and prayer to count, it has to be devoid of every attributes of the devil.

God bless you! Pls, be part of our fasting program for the seventh month. Tomorrow, Friday 8th is day 8 (eight).

You twisted there what God plainly said there in Isaiah 58 vs 1 - 13 all so you can continue with your fasting rituals which He is against. undecided

God never asked you to abstain from food , activities and pleasures for a period of time. Nowhere in the Gospels is this written or commanded of you by God. Instead the fasting God commands is the doing of good works only. He made this clear there in the context of Isaiah 58 and Zechariah 7 vs 4 - 13 - what He instead wants from you is for you to do good works. undecided

You starvation diets and rituals are meaningless and do not honor God since only that which God has commanded can give Him honor even on your days of fasting. This is the message contained in both Isaiah 58 vs 1 - 14 and Zechariah 7 vs 4 - 13. undecided
5 Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself?

Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?

Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord?

6  “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

7  Is it not lto share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? - Isaiah 58 vs 5 - 7
Pay particular attention to what God is asking you in verse 5 to realize He is telling you to only do that which He commands and none of your current fasting rituals meet up with the standard set by Him.. undecided
9  Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away rthe yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

10  if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. - Isaiah 58 vs 9 - 10
These are some of what God commands of you to do on your days of fasting instead or starving yourselves.. undecided
