One of the inmates who escaped from Kuje prison has been recaptured by men of the Nigerian police force. According to a police statement, the inmate identified as Kazeem Murtala was recaptured by police operatives attached to ‘A’ Div Suleja. The 54-year-old suspect was arrested after police operatives stormed an identified compound around General Hospital Suleja in the Bakasi area of Suleja, Niger state. The arrest was disclosed in a statement released by the State police spokesperson, Wasiu A. Abiodun. He said in a statement: “During interrogation, the inmate confessed that he escaped from Kuje Custodial Center during the attack where he was serving jail term after conviction for an offense he committed and he has been in the custody for the past two years. “However, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi commended the effort of the patrol team and directed that the inmate should be transferred to the custodial center which has been complied with, without any delay. “The CP equally appreciated members of the public for giving such intelligence to the Police while he urged them to sustain such effort towards fighting crime and criminality in the state.”
