Why do will like calling our African food foreign names instead of the original names it bears in Africa, can you call spaghetti another name than spaghetti, let's embrace our foods names the way it pronounced in our Languages.
Akara Is Not "Bean Cake",
Moi_Moi Is Not "Bean Pudding",
Abacha Is Not "African Salad",
Garri Is Not "Cassava Flakes/Flour",
Akamu Is Not "Pap",
Eba Is Not "Baked Cassava Flour"..

Respect Our Culture And Stop Translating The Names Of Our Cuisines To What You Don't Know.

After All, You Buy Pizza And Spaghetti (Italian Names) And Call It With Their Italian Names...

So Why Not Leave Our Akara And Moi_Moi To Bear Their Original Names, So It Can Tell Where It Originated From, Anytime Foreigners Sees Them...

If A Friend From USA Or UK Asks You What You Had For Breakfast, Lunch Or Dinner. Tell Him You Had Abacha, Eba Or Akara And Akamu...

And If They Don't Know It, Let Them Google About It. After All, That's Also How We(Africans) Read About Their Cuisines On The Internet...

Telling Them You Had "Bean Cake Or Pap", Doesn't Mean You Are Exposed And Educated, It Only Shows How Inferior You Take Yourself And Your heritage
Proudly An African.

All I did was ask a question based on your heading. Did you mean to say "We" instead of "Will"?

Seriously if you want to expose your food to the world, you will need to twig it a bit. Its call packaging not all foreigners can pronounce other languages properly . In some cases it could translate as a rude word in their local dialect.

It has nothing to do with exposure or non exposure. If you are a business man, you will name your products based on the ingredients it contains to have a broader clientele. When you are buying food you have never had before , the first thing you want to know is what the main ingredients are and secondly, what kind of cooking methods have been use to arrived at the final product.

The OP gave examples

Pizza, pita, spaghetti, tofu, sushi, pho, tacos, masala, etc are enjoyed worldwide. Especially in the western world, but the retain their original names.
The method of presentation is more important than the names.

Why would anyone feel "spaghetti " is easier to pronounce than "Akara" or "Moi-moi"?
