I have heard so much about the Yoruba heritage of Ilorin. But passing through Tinubu Square yesterday, I saw a historical piece that made the picture more clearer. I saw many interesting pictorial displays of several Nigerian cities and peoples around the water fountain.

I learned that Yoruba Egungun religious festival was a yearly cultural event until a brawl occurred and the festival was subsequently banned till date.

Nevertheless, other festivals like the Durbar are still held annually
