Kogi State: Beyond The New Direction by Ahari03(m): 11:49am On Aug 05, 2022
Life, they say, is a bundle of contradictions. For instance, what may look sane to Adejoh, may look insane to Ozovehe. It is then our responsibility to strike a balance.

GYB has been making some of us proud.

It is to his credit that we have forgotten about the dark age, as he drives us through the path of enormous developmental strides and various state of the Art infrastructures.

This piece is not written to point accusing fingers or torment the previous Kogi State administrator, but to arouse a level of consciousness among kogite. Starkly speaking, Kogi state before the arrival of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was left behind in the industrial and developmental race.

The previous captains who piloted the state affairs looked away from developing scientific infrastructures. For a state or nation to show prosperity when lined side by side with other states, there has to be an accumulated proficient stock of scientifically based knowledge that would transform such a state into an era of innovative, industrialized economy.

The previous Kogi State leaderships tried their respective best but truth be told, they failed to promote scientific and technological infrastructure to usher in a new Kogi. They couldn't give what they didn't possess.

However, the Yahaya Bello-led administration brought hope through different scientific, technological and developmental infrastructures that if properly managed will usher in a new dawn and a prosperous future, where the children of the common man will be self-sufficient.

The hope ushered in by this visionary administration is boldly and consciously vested in the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, CUSTECH, the Standard GYB model sciences schools across three senatorial districts. The Multimillion Naira State of the Art References Hospital, including the construction and equipping of Prince Abubakar Audu University for accreditation among others.

Recently, the Alhaji Yahaya Bello-led administration approved 600 computers for the GYB model schools, he similarly approved the supply of additional medical equipment to Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching hospital.

In a similar vein, the Kogi State Government is currently constructing the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of computer and information technology in Confluence University of Science and Technology.

These developmental projects and huge investment in science and Technology would build Kogi state's capacity to produce goods and services of high value in the coming years.

The journey to a greater Kogi among the comity of States should not be halted after the GYB administration. We have a huge responsibility as people with immeasurable potential, therefore we must be ready to decide our future by giving opportunities to men and women driven by vision and purposeful leadership.

Dear Adejo, Ozovehe, Kehinde, I urge us not to slack at all, we must be purposive in choosing leaders that can galvanize a demoralized fellowship in the Journey to an industrialized and commercialized state.
