Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in signing Porto's Brazilian striker Pepe during the summer transfer window.

He will become the second Pepe to join the club in the past three years, after the Gunners signed Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m in 2019.

However, the Ivory Coast international has failed to regularly impress in north London as he has scored just one goal in the 2021-2022 season.

Arsenal have shown an interest in Brazilian striker Pepe after his excellent performance at Porto last season.

According to A Bola, Arsenal have approached the Portuguese side about a potential deal for Pepe while negotiating terms for former teammate Fabio Vieira.

The Premier League giants were said to have to part with £60million to get a chance to sign the 23-year-old.

However, Mikel Arteta's team was reluctant to comply with the asking price, and Porto subsequently made an offer of £25.5m.

The Portuguese side quickly rejected the offer, telling Arsenal they would have to pay double to get his services.

Arsenal have not submitted another offer for Porto, but are reportedly planning to do so in the near future.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been told to bite the bullet and get rid of the current Pepe. But the £72million flop claims he is 'focused' and 'determined' to make a name for himself in London.

Pepe has drawn interest from Leeds, Sevilla, Lyon and Marseille, but has downplayed his social links to his move on his media.

I am focused and determined with Arsenal and my teammates," the Ivory Coast international continued.

The 27-year-old played his second fiddle behind Bukayo Saka last season, making just his 19 appearances in all competitions in 2021/22. With the arrival of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira from Man City and Porto and the Gunners stepping up their offense, he is likely to drop further down the pecking order during the 2022-23 campaign.
