Ocean Boys FC third choice goalkeeper, Austino Egbe believes the Nigerian Premier League, NPL can be like any of the European Leagues if there are consistent media coverages of league matches.

Egbe, who wants the Nigerian League to be like other European leagues in the World in order for it to attract massive public viewership and other attractive packages that will make the game interesting, told Inside Out Premier League that it would be possible with the help of the Nigerian media.

“I believe the media is a powerful tool that can make things happen especially enhancing the quality of the league and exposing the quality of players we have to other parts of the World and alongside attracting investors who want to invest or sponsor the game. This could be possible if the NPL can partner with them(media). The NPL should not relent in trying to make the league what it ought to be despite the current crisis in the league.

“Our league has so much to offer if there is good media coverage. The NPL has come of age. Most of the foreign-based professional players we have in the national teams are products from the league, yet the league still remains the way it is.

“The media have so much to do in this regard if there is good pattern-ship with the NPL. I believe with time our league will be like the European leagues,” he said.

Sharks promise top three finishing in league

Sharks FC of Port Harcourt have assured they will be better and stronger in the remaining weeks of the Premier League after the Federation Cup competition next week to post a top three finishing.

Media officer of the team Confidence Idaa said that the management of the club is doing everything possible to ensure the team finish among the top three at end of the season, stressing that they have learned from their mistakes and hope to correct it when the league resumes.

“We are very much prepared for the concluding part of the season after the Federation Cup. Our joy is that most of our players that were out because of injuries are back and better.

They are have recovered and are very much ready to explode for the concluding part of the season. I believe we will definitely get the best at the end of the season,” he said

I think they should renegotiate the media contract so some local stations have a share, or they can get a license from supersport who are investing the the whole thing with their own money alone, even the cameras and cameramen were from South Africa

the Local media to be honest will make mouth about not getting the rights but they hardly have the capacity ordinary broadcasting a conference is a big task for them

Maybe the league would become more attractive when teams start wining away from homes.

The govt should first of all repair all those bare fields they call football grounds.
Also a lick of paint wont go amiss on those grey pillars.

That way the matches wont be an eye sore.
It may motivate the players to do better, subsequently boosting the profile of the matches.
This will draw more coverage.

Not just to stand there and say they want more coverage.

@all anybody who feel the league is crab, should please tell us what he/she think we should do under this situation, your contribution could be seen by someone who can effect a change, don't condemn when you can't create.

These is a business issue and for an indepth view of the way to solve this problem visit this thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-701628.0.html

There is a huge demand for entertainment. What the NFF has to do is to find a way to get paid. TV stations will not scramble for matches if it is not made attractive.
NFF has moved to the use of artificial pitches to save cost of maintaining stadiums, this helps on the aesthetic side of things.

For a start they could start with a very creative weekly TV show that summarises all matches, better than what Super sport is doing, something that tells a story and engages with the audience. In the 90s, EPL had Rothmas of Pall Mall European football show, that was how we all got hooked on the EPL grin

If I own a TV station and care about my ratings, I would not cover crap.

The simple fact is that soccer will not develop as long as clubs refuse to stand on their own, as long as its under the thumb of the government.

Media coverage only follows great soccer. Great soccer exists where its not punished by corrupt refereeing, boardroom victories, poorly maintained stadia and poor player pay.

Repeal the Decree behind the NFA and see soccer boom. Let the government hands and let clubs learn to stand on their own.
