Halitosis also known as bad breath or mouth odour is an unpleasant smell that is perceived when one talks.

While some is mild and minimal, others are really strong and embarrassing.

It is commonly caused by poor dental hygiene or unhealthy lifestyle.

Below are the ways you can get rid of bad breath/mouth odour:

1. Brush Regularly
This is the first and the most important way of controlling halitosis. When you eat, food particles always get struck in between your teeth or your tongue, when those particles are not discarded by brushing, your mouth begins to smell. Thin layer of bacteria called plague is built up on your teeth and when that plague isn’t washed off, it causes tooth decay and mouth odour.

Use a toothpaste containing fluoride to brush your teeth because fluoride helps in strengthening of the enamel and preventing the teeth from decaying. Make sure you brush your tongue thoroughly to avoid trapping of plague that may cause the mouth to have a foul smell.

2. Drink Water
Drinking water is essential, rehydration makes it easy for the mouth to produce saliva, dry mouth frequently results in foul breath. When it comes to maintaining a healthy mouth, saliva is crucial. Bacteria flourish when it’s absent.

3. Diet
