Since December last year, Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea team has been a shadow of what we used to know. The Thomas Tuchel's team that went on 28 games rampaging streak, conceding just 12 goals when he newly took over, and in the process, won the Uefa Champions League final and narrowly lost the F.A cup final to Leicester city at Wembley is now a total shadow of it self. The team's invisible status has grown from bad to worse going by the proximity of badly the team is performing. Firstly, Tuchel has been very irrational with his transfer targets and most annoyingly, is that he sent away his strikers in Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, two players with a proven record of versatility and a phenomenal goal ratio and has decided to trust an inexperienced and relatively unproductive Kai Harvertz, a decision that has got tongues wagging and more evidently, the team loosing due to the lack of a goal pocher. Also worthy of note, is that the coach has continuously played a terrible player in Jorginho. Known to be a weak, lazy and clueless player, J5 as often called has caused the team numerous wins and points since his big money move 4 years ago. He lacks every quality of a good player and how he keeps playing ahead of a more rounded Kovacic remains a myth to many. Not only that, Tuchel has also continuously, played almost every player out of their position, which has further added to the team's woe. More worryingly for the fans across all ends, is the team's inability to preserve a win without conceding recklessly as seen again in last night's terrible performance at the Saint Mary's Stadium. The team has just 7 points from a possible 15 and that is a terrible start to the campaign. If Tuchel doesn't address these worrisome issues and results keep coming in negatively, fans will call for his head no doubt because how do you expect Chelsea to compete for a league title with a Kai Harvertz and Mason Mount as strikers? That's a ridiculous thing to do or decision to make.

Going by the recent performances, the Midfield is responsible for the lack of goals as there were no much chances created.
Like you pointed out, Kovacic being left out may have contributed to the lack of compactness in the Midfield.
With Chelsea spending much on the duo of Cucurella and Koulibaly and Fufana on his way... The excuse for the defence will no longer be entertained.
Yea, the lack of an attacker will be another problem if not addressed. They are talking about Aubameyang. They need a proven striker.

Am still surprised they are not looking for a worthy replacement for kante. He is now injury prone and any match he misses his absence is always felt.
