Be Equitable To All Applicants, DELGA Sheriff Urges Education Grants Committee
•••Says Grants Apolitical, Not For Family Members Of Officials
•••As Exercise Kicks-Off

The Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, has urged members of the 'Degema Local Government Education Grants Committee,' handling the screening exercise, to be fair to all aspirants, regardless of their political inclination.

He emphasized that the grant was meant to support indigent students of Degema origin, in view of the harsh economic situation, and not aimed at patronizing political party members as well as family members of elected Council Officials.

Speaking before the commencement of the exercise at the Council Secretariat, Tuesday, the Chairman urged applicants to shun the temptation of submitting forged documents, as that would lead to their automatic disqualification, assuring that the star-studded Committee would do justice to all.

"There shall not be favoritism in this process. Chairman, Councillors or HLGA's relatives, who are on sponsorship, are not qualified for this grant; it is strictly meant to assist the indigent students of our Communities.

"Submit authentic documents as outlined and the committee will do justice at the end of the day.

"This exercise is not for APC, PDP or any other political party members, but is strictly for undergraduates of Degema Local Government Area," the chairman stated.

The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Garrick, Ibima Firstbury, who spoke on the sideline, assured that his team members would be diligent and fair to all applicants.

Over one hundred (100) students turned up for the exercise on the first day, which commenced on Tuesday, and is expected to continue till next week Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
