Talking about Thibaut Courtois is talking about one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment. Real Madrid's great season last term was, largely, thanks to Courtois' work.

The Belgian goalkeeper is the main man in the whole Real Madrid defence. That said, history would have been very different if Barcelona had decided to go after him.

'Carrusel Deportivo' said that on up to two occasions, Courtois could move to Barca, but finally, he did not do so.

The first of those was in 2011. Courtois belonged to Genk. Barcelona refused to pay three million euros and, finally, he ended up at Chelsea, who loaned him out at Atletico Madrid.

The second occasion was in 2014. After his second loan spell at Atletico Madrid, Courtois had to return to Chelsea, although Barcelona came along.

Barca's board had to decide between deciding to sign Coutois or Ter Stegen. Finally, they decided to buy the German goalkeeper because he played better with his feet.

Two decisions which have marked the future of the Barcelona goal... and Real Madrid's. Courtois ended up becoming Madrid's number one 'keeper and he still is as of today.
