Japa Update: International Students In Canada Can Now Work Full-time! by Childofthelord(f): 12:33am On Oct 08, 2022
The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today announced the temporary lifting of the 20-hour-per-week cap on the number of hours that eligible post-secondary students are allowed to work off-campus while class is in session.

From November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023, international students who are in Canada and who have off-campus work authorization on their study permit will not be restricted by the 20-hour-per-week rule. Foreign nationals who have already submitted a study permit application, as of today, will also be able to benefit from this temporary change, provided their application is approved

My thoughts…
This is really exciting! International students can now work more hours, which will enable them to fend for themselves and pay tuition.
Many…I mean many folks will attempt to defer admission, take gap years or skip classes to work.
IRCC is about to see massive immigration through the study route come 2023.
If there was ever a Japa wave, it just got started.

What are some pros or cons that you would anticipate from this new development? Kindly share.

More applicants but wont mean more approvals. They have a set limit for student numbers which is around 500k. It will only get competitive

Am not sure you understand this , they only opened the full time work for only those who have applied until the day this announcement was made meaning that new applicant's will not be entitled to full working hours the implications is that those who will just apply if you work full day your already going against your visa conditions which may deprive you of your intended PR

Good evening everyone, what are the required documents to carry along when traveling to Canada as a student? That can be asked at the port of entry. Thank you
