HOODLUMS Set Ede INEC Office Ablaze, Police Reacts by SojWORLDWIDE(m): 12:29am On Nov 11, 2022
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) office located at Oke-Iresi area of Ede in Ede-South Local Government Area of Osun State, has been set ablaze by hoodlums.

The hoodlums  carried out the attack in the early hours of Thursday, November 10 2022.

A RESIDENT OF THE TOWN TAIWO SAID;

“The prompt intervention of men of fire service stopped the fire from spreading to the hall and other sections of the office.
“Firefighters recovered bread, petrol kegs and fix-cap and knives used by the hoodlums. They made petrol bomb to carry out the attack by soaking bread in petrol. They really tried by extinguishing the fire. I hope that

The Spokesperson of Osun INEC, Mrs Oluwaseun Osimosu who confirmed the incident, said the Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr Mutiu Agboke will brief journalists on the development later in the day. 
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command reacted to the incident on Thursday through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opalola. 

In a Press Release made available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, Opalola said the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Faleye Olaleye has ordered a thorough investigation on the incident to unravel the circumstances behind the inferno.

"This is to inform the general public that the Osun State Police Command is aware of the case of Arson by yet to be identified person (s) that occurred at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office at Ede South Local Government of the State this morning 10th November, 2022.

Notwithstanding that the fire incident is minor, the Commissioner of Police, CP Faleye S Olaleye, psc, has ordered the Area Commander in charge of the Area/Divisional Police Officers to carry out a thorough investigation on the incident to unravel the circumstances that led to inferno.

Also, the CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations/Area Commanders and the DPOs to emplace maximum security in INEC offices and other critical government infrastructures in the State to avert any further occurrence."
