A bottle of beer costs

N180 at a local joint. Some people drink 5 bottles a day on the average. That makes it 35 bottles per week and 1820 bottles in a year amounting to

N327,600. For 40 years that means

N13,104,000. Some men have drunk bungalows, duplexes and estates worth of beer.

And u say u only drink one per day = 5 per week =260 in a year @46,800. For 50 years =

N2,340,000 all in beer

This gives new meaning to the expression’ drinking your future away’. Please save your future.

What's the opportunity cost of not drinking beer? What would the person be doing if he wasn't drinking? You need to factor this into your analysis and deduct from the 50 years of drinking.

What's saddening? Someone has chosen to spend his money the way he chooses and you're saying it's saddening? What if the one bottle per day reduces his spending on telephone calls, visits to places, savings on fuel used in traffic, etc?

The analysis put forward here is too narrow and one-sided and has been tilted to sway the opinion of people in such a way to see one bottle per day as wasteful or extravagant. You must address the total picture in order for the analysis to make sense.
