Jingle Bells is one of the most well-known Christmas carols, and as December officially begins today, the air will be filled with joy once more. The Christmas song that everyone learns to sing in school is undoubtedly “Jingle Bells,” and it works best during carol services. The song was written by Medford, Massachusetts, native James Lord Pierpont, and it was first performed in 1850. Pierpont, an American songwriter and organist wrote the song to commemorate the town’s annual sleigh races around Thanksgiving.
