The Chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi, Chief Moses Nome has pledged to sponsor students who intend to delve into film acting, to become movie stars.

Nome made the pledge during a media literacy campaign of the National Film and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) held at Izzo Secondary School, in the area.

Nome, represented by his Vice, Mrs Grace Ogah, said that it was heartwarming that several young people from the area, especially students had indicated interest in film acting.

"We would assiduously encourage them to fulfill their ambitons of using film acting to actualise their life ambitions.

"The movie stars they watch on the screens once had this sort of aspirations and were encouraged to be where they are presently,".

She said that the council would replicate Governor David Umahi's human uplifting strides especially in the area of education to make youths positively minded.

"I thank the NFVCB for this initiative in the council and pledge our collaboration to ensure that our youths fully explore inherent opportunities.

"I also urge the participants to pay adequate attention to the tutorials they would receive and apply them accordingly," he said.

Mr Hubert Odeh, Zonal Coordinator of NFVCB noted that media literacy was one of the cardinal programmes of the board.

"We live in an era where new media controls affairs and have thrown several complexities.

"Phones which can be seen as mini televisions enable people to access certain information which they could not had ordinarily accessed in the past.

"Parents used to control what their wards watch during the era of video players and compact discs but such regulation are no longer obtainable with the advent of android phones,"

He noted that the board was presently intensifying campaigns to ensure that the undeaged know the implications of accessing video contents that are above their level.

Dr Patrick Nwafor, a Resource Person at the campaign and Lecturer at the University of Calabar campaign, urged the participants not to be distracted by civil media contents.

"Civil media should not have only negative tendencies but positive ones and this depends on how it is controlled,"

Chief Ben Nwaobashi, former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi, noted that stakeholders of the council would collaborate with the NFVCB to enlighten youths on dangers of watching uncensored video materials.

Miss Nkechi Aloh, a Participant at the event pledged to be wary of the film contents she accesses to avoid being influenced negatively.
