Re: Did Our Foremothers Use Menstrual Pads Or Tampons? by ushure: 12:37pm On Sep 02, 2011
Well, i think it depends on how long ago. if it was before cloth came into existence then trust me they used animal skin and leaves. But if it is after cloth came into existence they used clothes.

That's what you mind tells you they say. But yes, it's a pejorative exclamation/swear word with the real meaning being "used sanitary pad" - a used sanitary pad being disgusting. So usually it's said in disgust. It's actually "bomboclat" = bombo cloth.

They didn't use either. Their were herbs that were taken by women to prevent ovulation altogether. A natural family planning method. Why do you think with our fore fathers' polygamous lifestyle Africa neva experienced overpopulation.

I saw this on NTA voyage of discovery a couple of years ago. A nigerian university was conducting tests on the herb/seed(forgot the name). They were reporting very potent results from the herbs.

For example they tested it on some married women and they succeded n preventing ovulation for like 10 months or so with just one dose(hence ,no ovulation, no menstruation). I don't know how far they've gone with it right now thouugh.
