National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives on Tuesday, confirmed the ambush of its operatives by suspected gunmen (alleged to be police officers) numbering about 20, in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State. It was learnt that the operatives were trailing a drug baron from the Agege area of mainland Lagos. The operatives were trying to intercept a truck conveying unknown quantities of Canadian Loud on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi around 1am, when they came under a fusillade of gunfire.
