A brief history of Ernest Ikoli . Ikoli was born on March 25 1893 at nembe in present day bayelsa State two years before King Fredrick William Koko mingi-vIlI of nembe led a down attack of More than a thousand worriors on royal Niger company trading Post which led to repisals by British and nembe- British war (Beke yo mi) . He was educated at Bonny government school Rivers State and kings college in Lagos he was among the founding student's of that college when it was established in 1909 and was retained to serve first as an assistant mathematics tutor in 1913 and raise to became the head of college after six years a post which he left to pursue a career in jornalism, this was after he had resigned his teaching appointment over what he ragarded as insulting treatment of native in the school. This shows his courageousness of fighting for the rights of Africans from his early stages of career. In 1930s he was one of the founders of Nigeria youths movement (NYM) and he also served as one time president of this great movement due to his doggedness this movement strived strongly for Independence and indigenous representative in the then colonial administration's that brought in Herbert Maculay NNDP In 1942 to the legislative council and was re elected in 1946.
