It's not compulsory your marriage registry must be done in Ikoyi. From my own research, I v seen lots of couple going to abroad with marriage registry from their local government or a registry in the bride's state.
The stress of moving from north or east to Lagos is not easy. Also, marrying at Ikoyi registry doesn't give automatic visa to couples so why all this copy-copy and public show of registry. Marrying there won't prolong your marriage or make it sweet. Marrying in local registry won't make you look poor or small in social status. Some ll even say if you marry at other registry, it's not as recognisable as Ikoyi own. Is the person from Lagos or from Eti-Osa LG?
I also noticed our celebs are the ones always trooping to Lagos to marry in Ikoyi cos they all copy each other. Some aren't Lagos based but they ll come from a far there. Have you ever wondered how Hausa/Fulani or northern couples travel overseas? They registry in their LG, no stress.
No wonder the registry is always busy with wedding 4-8 couples at once. You v a wedding there, you may v to book 3 months ahead.

In my own opinion, the registry should v been for people in the local govt area where Ikoyi Registry is, Lagos State and surrounding States.

I don't blv this. Many v travelled to overseas with local govt marriages that's different from ikoyi
