WHEN DID 'OCD' BECOME A BUZZWORD?

📌 CASE 1: A certain lady who is an accountant can't live her normal life because she washes her clothes almost every hour, and keeps saying the clothes are dirty.

📌 CASE 2: Mr Austin checks his house and furniture for bedbugs hourly, and as a result, never gets to be productive with his time.

🗣️ OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is a disorder, please...a MENTAL DISORDER. As in, a different level of Ment.

It is not a flex like some Nigerians are beginning to think. It is nothing to be proud of; nothing to wish upon one's self.

It is an extreme level of obsession to carry out a 'ritual'...a mental disorder characterized by an obsessive compulsion to repeatedly perform trivial or meaningless actions.

OCD can make one wash their hands so much their skin begins to peel; can make one so security-conscious at night such that he never gets on the bed to sleep all night long.

It is a real-time mental condition that needs medical diagnosis and help.
It is not being fastidious nor being a perfectionist.
You do not self-diagnose OCD just because you love to repeatedly clean your room, wash your clothes every evening, or bath thrice daily.

Nobody should admire having OCD just because the acronym sounds fancy and classy🙄
OCD comes with mental pain, which most times translates to physical pain.
It is a level of 'ment' on it's own.
It robs you of the joy of living a normal life.
It makes people bruise, maim or kill themselves.

A mental disorder is not a flex please, and will never be.
