A man named Daramola Olanrewaju has caused the death of a bus conductor named Michael. This was while trying to collect N500 “police fee” at Ketu Bus Stop in Lagos State.

Olanrewaju was reportedly working for some police officers attached to the Ketu Police Station when the incident occurred on February 3rd.

Lout Drags Lagos Conductor to Death
The conductor and Olanrewaju had an argument when the conductor refused to pay the fee. This led to Olanrewaju dragging the conductor from the bus. The conducted was eventually hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle.

The witness stated that Olanrewaju was arrested and taken to the Ogudu Police Station. However, the driver of the vehicle, Jemiu, was also detained.

A bus driver named Taiwo Akanni expressed concern over the growing power of louts working for the police in the area. And he claimed that commercial drivers were being constantly harassed and extorted by them.

In his words:

“This is not the first time these louts will be dragging someone from a moving bus. It was just unfortunate that the man died. They harass and behave anyhow to us even in front of their masters, the police officers. This needs to stop! The power those police officers gave them is too much and that is why we are having this kind of issue.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. He added that the investigation was ongoing.
