The Lagos State Ministry of Education has ordered the temporary closure of Chrisland School, Opebi-Ikeja, following the reported death of a student of the School, Whytney Adeyemi.

A release signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo said the closure was ordered pending the outcome of a full investigation into the unfortunate incident.

Mrs. Adefisayo, on behalf of the State Ministry of Education, commiserated with Mr. and Mrs. Adeyemi, parents of Whytney, and prayed for the repose of her soul.

“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends and acquaintance of Whytney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”, the Commissioner stated.

One thing is for sure, there's too much negligence going on there. Can't be passed off as merely circumstantial.
They could not even justify the high school fees being charged. Just proliferating schools here and there with little regards to the young lives entrusted in their care.

I thought her surname was Adeniran and not Adeyemi

What does it matter though The poor girl's dead and gone. All that's left is to hope that her death galvanises the powers that be into taking the appropriate measures to forestall a reoccurrence.

Abi ooo. Can't investigation be done while the school is in process. Should all other students have a hitch in their education over an incident? School should go on. If school is found culpable of negligence, let them be sued and made to pay through their nose. The way government closes institutions anyhow will drive away investors.

Always the knee-jerk reaction.

How would have LASG known and put in place the closure happen before the student died?
Or should LASG not do anything after the student died?

The immediate closure is not necessarily punitive measures against the school, it could be to protect and offer safe spaces for the other students, prevent break down of law and order, etc
