Keywords are words or phrases used in website content that are related to the subject matter of the website and help to describe the content. For example, a website selling camping gear might have keywords such as “camping tents”, “sleeping bags”, or “hiking boots”. When a user types in a related search query, the website with the most relevant keywords is likely to be ranked highest in the search engine results.

Keywords are an important part of the search engine optimization (SEO) process. Through careful selection and placement of keyword phrases on a website, you can increase your chances of appearing higher in search engine ranking when users search for related terms. The more keywords a website has, the higher the chance that users will find it. Therefore, carefully selecting relevant keywords and using them effectively throughout a website is a key factor in increasing search engine rankings.
In addition, you need to make sure that the keywords use are relevant to the content on your website. Irrelevant keywords can result in low search engine rankings, as search engines will not give a website a high ranking if it is not relevant to the keywords used.

Keywords are an integral part of increasing a website’s search engine ranking and are an important tool for businesses to use in order to gain visibility on the web. Properly selecting and utilizing relevant keywords is the key to boosting search engine rankings and help to increase the number of potential customers who find your website.

Types of keywords:

Keywords can be divided into three main types: short-tail, medium-tail and long-tail. Short-tail keywords are relatively broad and generic, such as “SEO” for example. They’re good for garnering high search volume and visibility, but also tailed by lots of competitors. Long-tail keywords are more specific and relevant,- they are less competitive, but also tend to have lower search volumes overall. LSI keywords are related to the primary keyword, but may appear to be synonyms, or be slightly altered or rearranged. For example, “search engine optimization” is an LSI keyword for our primary keyword “SEO”. Using all three types of keywords in content increases its chance of being found in search engine results.

When creating content, it is useful to research what keywords your competitors are using, and evaluate those that may be beneficial to your own SEO efforts. Analyzing your own website analytics can also provide valuable insight into what keywords work best. As a general rule of thumb, focus more on long-tail and LSI keywords rather than generic short-tail keywords.
