From the BBC: A rogue trader was arrested today in one of the biggest losses from rogue traders.

It would be interesting to know how he was able to get away with a loss as big as this. Is this a lack of proper internal control? Controls and oversights have been tightened since the Jerome Kerviel debacle of 2008.

In a way, Kweku's rogue dealing is a culmination of the Ghanaian dominance in all fields of endeavour we as Nigerians hold dear. Their football teams are better than ours, their economy is better run, they have power, politics cleaner and more accountable (at least till the oil money starts rolling in) and of course our exclusive preserve: FRAUD. This latter I find very disgraceful.

In all our years of fraud, the total amount does not even come close to 2 bn dollars grin grin Maybe Anajemba?

This is very disgraceful, and coming from Ghana who always reckon they are saints!!!

I was looking to get into UBS , BOA or one of the investment banks but I bet this Ghana boy has spoilt some black peoples chance (including me) of getting into certain roles. I guess you are thinking the UK is a big place but I can imagine this will still have an effect on how many blacks they take for certain positions.
$2 billion? Can you imagine the kind of ITT (International Thief Thief) this guys is?

Thank God he didn't have the chance to claim he is from Nigeria because most black Africans that are caught in bad acts overseas used to say they are Nigerians because our passports used to be cheap to get.

You can now clap for yourself and be proud to be a Nigerian again. Right?
Working for a bluechip firm as a trader and then runing huge losses on their behalf is quite different from doing fraud as full time occupation.
Dont be too quick to congratulate your self that a Ghananian has finally outdone you as a Nigerian. I am sure he was a star at the firm before he made a series of bad trades, concealed them, and made more(bad) trades in attempt to recoup the losses. That is how it happens. Like someone pointed out, failure is bastard indeed.

I'm sure he did not steal the company's money. He just made some bad trades. That does not make him a criminal nor is it a disgraceful for the nation of Ghana.

Do you even know what rogue trading means? How loses are made? Lol. . . or you thought he stole the money? Oh deary me! undecided JeeZ!! embarassed

Western banks have turned into casino parlours. They no longer have the patience to try to finance capital projects. That's why they are begging thrify China for bailout loans for their corrupt banking industry.
