WHICH IS CORRECT: 10-foot Long, 10 Feet Long. by kalvoken(m): 11:16am On Mar 23, 2023 |
A topic on the front on how alligator in USA is terrorising the area reads "huge 10-foot long alligator...." The promted me to look up the how correct the form in which the unit of measurement was used. Here, I discoverd that since its serving as adjective, it is correct to use it in singular form, but it has to be accompanied with hyphen (10-foot-tall alligator...). On the other hand, when it serves as noun, the plural form is used (The alligator is 10 FEET long) You may shade more lights, if you have any. 3 Likes 1 Share |

when the phrase is used as a whole to describe something (when it functions as an adjective phrase before the noun), you hypenate it and use the singular form of the measurement." and one of your examples is: "six-foot-tall man". And then: "If the description comes after the verb you don't use hyphens and you use the plural form of the measurement." and the example is "the man is six feet tall 12 Likes 2 Shares |
