It's the day after the night before in the ongoing story of the Manchester United takeover.



Wednesday saw the interested parties given a 9pm deadline to submit their bids. 



Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani were expected to lodge second offers, but after an evening of confusion it emerged that neither had done so in time and were in fact granted an extension.






Both parties are still expected to bid in the coming days.


Sheikh Jassim is understood to be ready to launch a world-record £5.5bn bid.




INEOS boss Ratcliffe isn't giving up on his boyhood club though after visiting Old Trafford and Carrington last week when his delegation made a good impression on United staff.

The Glazers are hoping to drum up more interest, and there is understood to be up to six more proposals from other parties who want to buy a stake in the club.



They included Finnish entrepreneur
Thomas Zilliacus, who went public with a bid on Thursday, and former AC Milan owners
Elliott Investment Management.





Manchester United are in the middle of an international break, meaning some well-earned rest for manager Erik ten Hag ahead of what promises to be a busy conclusion to the season.
