Men of Ogun state Police command have arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued two kidnapped victims in Owode Egba area of the state.

The suspects, Mohammed Bello and Mohammed Bashiru were arrested after policemen received a distress call from Bisodun village that kidnappers had invaded the community and a couple Mr and Mrs Ojo had been abducted by the hoodlums.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the two suspects in a statement in Abeokuta.

Mr Oyeyemi said that upon receiving the distress call, the DPO Owode Egba division, CSP Olasunkanmi Popoola had raced to the scene where he met the local hunters who have already mobilized in large number to confront the kidnappers.

He pointed out that one of hunters was hit by bullets when the kidnappers suddenly opened fire on the rescue team which the security men responded to.

The command spokesman said the abducted victims and the injured hunter were quickly rushed to the hospital but the hunter, Adebare Ramoni, died while receiving treatment.

He said the two arrested suspects have been identified by the victims as members of the gang who abducted them.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Frank Mba, who commended the local hunters for their support has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti kidnapping unit of the state Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation.

Mr Mba also sympathized with the family of the deceased hunters and pray that God will give them the fortitude to bear the unfortunate death.
