Alleged 50M Saga: Maplewood Estate Residents Rejoice As Electricity Restored by Walecoy(m): 8:42am On Jun 08, 2023
After over two months of suffering in darkness, residents of Maplewood Estate, Lagos, are celebrating as electricity has been finally restored to the area last night, June 7, 2023 around 7pm.

The prolonged blackout was due to the alleged non-payment of the estate's electricity bill, which forced the power supply company to cut off supply to residents. The situation resulted in a lot of discomfort and hardship for the residents, including the inability to carry out basic household activities.

However, the Chairman of the Estate, Mr. Oseni Akerele in response to the plight of the residents, swung into action and restored power supply to the estate. The news of the restoration brought joy and relief to the residents who expressed gratitude towards the Chairman for the prompt resolution of the issue.

Speaking on the situation, the Chairman stressed that the restoration of electricity was not without its challenges. He revealed that a significant number of houses had been disconnected from the transformer due to unpaid electricity bills. He appealed for residents to settle their outstanding bills for the transformer to prevent further disconnections.

He further stated that transparency and accountability would be provided concerning contributions made towards the maintenance of the transformer. He assured residents that all monies paid would be accounted for and put to use for the betterment of the estate.

However, some parts in the estate remain blacked out due to electricity debts.
Residents of Maplewood Estate can now go about their daily activities with ease, knowing that they have access to power supply. The restoration of electricity highlights the importance of prompt resolution of community issues through responsible leadership.
