We Think NCC Should Review What The Standard Charges Should be for Internet Data
The number of mobile network customers who are complaining about the alarming rate at which internet data is being drained by their mno's keeps going up daily.

And while these mno's will argue or try to justify this data drain by saying it is based on the subscribers traffic or usage preferences, many customers will definitely disagree with that defensive argument or claims by the mno's.

We (Kustomers) really think there is not enough transparency from the part of the providers. Plus, we also think that the cost of internet data is a bit on the high side, considering the sluggish speed that is distributed in return.

While we can't make a comparison yet with European plans, since we're yet to adopt that operational model here in Nigeria, but things could still be better, especially now that more people in this part of the world are equally switching to remote work, there is need for speed and efficiency.

At this point, we are not quite sure whether mno's are really being closely monitored to determine how much they're charging per kilobyte or megabyte. We are simply suggesting that the NCC should bring this to the board and thoroughly review what the standard charges should be. This way, customers can indeed keep track of their data spending, even if they're to stream live videos or watch pre-recorded programs on a 10-50mbps internet connection they'll have an idea of what's consuming the most data.

To digress a little, let's touch on the issue of internet speed, it is understandable that location can play a key role on how fast your connection could be, other factors could be bad weather and other underlying factors that are not profoundly noted by subscribers - however, another important aspect of this report that we'd suggest that NCC should look into is the speed delivery of these providers, are they really delivering on their promise even when a customer is located in a very good receptive area?

Even if we're to go by the "FUP" terms, it is still not so clear whether customers are enjoying what they're paying for, with so many sophisticated devices made available, equipped with the latest chips for optimum performance, yet customers seem to be getting a 90's internet connection speed in the 4G/5G era, in most locations.
