The Federal University of Petroleum Resources located in Efurrum, Delta State has not been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) after 4 yrs of establishment.

The institution lacks basic academic infrastructures to train students.

The Federal University of Petroleum which is the pioneer university of petroleum in Africa poorly funded has led to friction between the students and the authorities.

The students recently discovered that the federal government owned school resources were not well managed by the authorities and the government has not taken any action to question the authorities in charge of the school.
