Moment of Power #624 - The Ten Commandments Revisited [Commandment One - Exodus 20:3]

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me." - Exodus 20:3

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." - Matthew 6:24

Dear friend, it is impossible to serve two masters simultaneously. Will you choose to serve the fleeting allure of material possessions, or will you devote yourself to the God of creation who made you in His image and is always prepared to meet your every need?

God desires us to be wholeheartedly committed to Him as His children. He does not want us to lead double lives, where our hearts chase after worldly acquisitions or pleasures while neglecting our relationship with Him. As the commandment states, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Whenever we prioritize personal desires over our service to God, we elevate those things to the status of idols above God. Some individuals have become enslaved by the pursuit of wealth, while others are consumed by the quest for affluence. However, God is calling us today to return to Him.
