Muheeba Dankaka Is Innocent, Group Declares As Allegations Of Job Racketeering Rocks FCC

Abdulrazak Adeoye, the commissioner representing Osun State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), has been accused of being the culprit behind allegations of job racketeering at the Commission.

Recall that the Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Muheeba Dankaka, and some of its commissioners were, on Wednesday, engaged in accusations and counter-accusations of impropriety and nepotism at the resumed hearing of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating job racketeering at federal establishments.

The committee is investigating ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), parastatals, and tertiary institutions on personnel recruitment, employment racketeering, and the mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Abdulrazak Adeoye, the commissioner representing Osun State, accused Mrs Dankaka of removing people’s names from the payroll and replacing them with others.

“She surreptitiously removed the names of Nigerians from the payroll of FCC and replaced them without the knowledge of most commissioners,” he said.

He was supported by Moses Anaughe (the commissioner representing Delta State) and Mamman Alakaye (the commissioner from Nasarawa State).

In its reaction, the Nigerian Citizens Action Group (NCAG) accused the Abdulrazak Adeoye of spearheading a witch-hunt against the exalted Muheeba Dankaka.

According to a statement made available to newsmen and signed by Comrade Salahudeen A Lukman on behalf of NCAG on Friday, July 28, 2023, the Osun Commissioner is being supported who are strings to some bigwigs.

The statement reads in part, "we careful review and follow-up on National Assembly investigation hearing on allegations of job racketeering level against the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Chairman Hajia Muheeba Dankaka by some disgruntled and corruption personified commissioners of the commission notebly among is the Osun State Federal Commissioner.

"Nigerians will recall that the FCC has not wade nor command much respect nor prominence in regulating reflection of federal character principle in ministries, departments and agencies recruitment processes in the past until Hajia Muheeba took over in 2020 as Chairperson.

"It's unfortunate that the self-made righteous woman of substance, contentment and patriotism with proven record of successes and wealth from personal business ventures and endeavour far before appointment into public service, the person of Dr Mrs Muheeba Dankaka is paired with some perpetual politicians whose aims and objectives are to use the position of authority secured by dint of previlege for self-enrichment.

"It is no secret that Dankaka is vigorously cleaning the FCC of rots. This is an herculean task as it contains restructuring, reformation and restoration of lost glory of FCC. Some perceived bigwigs must have felt threatened that the hoses they use to siphon monies are about to be cut.

"It remains self-explanatory with revelations thus far before the House Committee on Federal Character, the real fraudulent official of federal Character Commission who is responsible for the alledge job racketeering. How on earth will somebody, a federal Commissioner for that matter, purchase a property and offer to pay with job slots if not a professional job racketeer?

"The National Assembly commitee should rather pick special interest on this revelation and ensure thorough investigation and appropriate sanction to the fraudulent commissioners.

"The chairperson being a woman must not be intimidated nor frustrated, her days in Federal Character Commission have been a continue blessing to the Nigerian system, starting from the new look of the commission head office to the new organogram and condition of service and operations of FCC. National Assembly should protect her gender so as to guarantee women in politics and governance 100% protection.

"The innocence of Dr Dankaka is obvious, the commissioner is the real suspect responsible for the fraudulent job slot rackettering. An attempt by the chairman to stop the dubious business aimed to use for funding the new property acquired inform this twist of the story and consequent blackmail of the chairperson.

"A comprehensive details of other fraud perpetrated and attempted by other disgruntle Commissioner at FCC shall be made public in coming days as well supply to National Assembly committee."

Similarly, a coalition of professionals and elder statesmen from Northern Nigeria, Arewa Professional Group (APG), has decried the alleged ethnic profiling, gender abuse, and blackmail against the chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr. Muheeba Dankaka.

The APG called for a professional approach to running the Federal Character Commission and reaffirmed its confidence in Dr. Dankaka’s ability to serve diligently in her role.

They urged all Nigerians to respect the principles of fairness and meritocracy, allowing individuals like Dr. Dankaka to continue contributing to the nation’s progress without undue interference.

This was contained in a statement by the national coordinator of APG, Dr. Umar Bala Abdulkadir, and secretary, Comrade Nazanmi Dakingari, yesterday in Abuja the group expressed concern over the malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Dr. Dankaka.

The group called on the leadership of the House of Representatives, the Senate of the Federal Republic, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to put an end to the ethno-religious profiling, and gender abuse that have been used against her.

For the record, they said she is a female professional who has remained a bastion of Sir Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto); a role model of our women and girl-child in the North and who has consistently prided herself in the discharge of her duties effectively, right from assuming the mantle of leadership.
